Healthy Honey
Most honey naturally contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, a proven antiseptic with antibacterial properties.
In New Zealand, Manuka, Beechwood Honeydew and Wild Thyme honey all have proven antibacterial and antioxidant benefits.

These honeys are high in particular antioxidants — which help keep your cells and immune system healthy — and oligosaccharides — which help produce good bacteria in the digestive system.
Active Manuka Honey:
New Zealand’s native Manuka plant has been well known for its antibacterial qualities since early days. In fact, parts of the plant were used by the indigenous Maori as a natural medicine.
Research has found that in addition to natural hydrogen peroxide characteristics some Manuka honey also has a unique, more powerful antibacterial property. When combined, these two properties enhance the effectiveness and potency of Manuka honey’s antibacterial qualities.
However, not all Manuka honey is created equal. There are two types of Manuka honey. Ordinary Manuka honey which has the standard hydrogen peroxide found in most honey and Active Manuka honey were the hydrogen peroxide is combined with the honey’s own naturally occurring anti-bacterial qualities. Active Manuka honey, such as J.Friend and Co: NZ Artisan's active 13+ and Active 14+ have been shown to improve wound healing and have other special healing properties.
The J.Friend and Co: NZ Artisan Honey Active 13+ and 14+ Manuka are medium potency honeys
