Single Varietal

All honey is not created equal. In fact, much like a fine wine the different flowers or nectar the bees feast on will give honey a completely unique flavour, colour and sweetness.
Creating single flower honeys is the craft of the beekeeper. It depends on the careful placement of the hives. Bees forage as close to the hive as they can, usually within a 2km radius, so the beekeeper places the hives near to the particular flowering plants, at exactly the right time of year so the bees can feast on the floral nectar of the specific flower. The more densely populated the flowers, the more pure the honey.
New Zealand has a bountiful range of native plants that foraging honeybees love, making our honey completely unique. Single floral varietals such as Pohutukawa, Rata, Kamahi and Manuka honey cannot be found anywhere else in the world. A honey connoisseur will revel in the intricate differences between distinct varieties and the different magnificent settings that they are sourced from.
